Stitch challenge 10 - crossed dc stitch

Welcome to my 10th self-imposed stitch challenge. This week I've challenged myself to work with the crossed double crochet stitch. Last week I made a little sampler working in rows. You can see my little square created in rows below and then instructions on how I created my little sampler in rounds and worked from corner to corner.

Crossed double crochet stitch worked in the round

Begin with a magic ring

Rnd 1 Sc 4 into the magic ring, sl st to the first st. (4 sc)

Rnd 2 Ch 1, 3 sc in each st around, sl st to the first st, sl st to the corner. (12 sc)

Rnd 3 Ch 1, *3 hdc in the first st, sk next st, dc in the next st, dc in the sk st* 4 times. Join to the first st with a sl st, sl st to the corner st. (8 dc, 12 hdc)

Rnd 4 Ch 1, *3 hdc, [sk next st, dc in the next st, dc in the sk st] 2 times* 4 times. Join to the first st with a sl st, sl st to the corner st. (16 dc, 12 hdc)

Rnd 5 Ch 1, *3 hdc, [sk next st, dc in the next st, dc in the sk st] 3 times* 4 times. Join to the first st with a sl st, sl st to the corner st. (24 dc, 12 hdc)

Rnd 4 Ch 1, *4 sdc,,sc in the next 8 sts* 4 times. Join to the first st with a sl st. (48 sc)

Fasten off and weave in the ends.

Ch 2

Row 1 Sc in the 2nd ch from hook, ch 1 and turn. (1 sc)

Row 2 2 Sc, ch 1 and turn. (2 sc)

Row 3 2 sc in each st across, ch 1 and turn. (4 sc)

Row 4 2 Hdc in the first st, sk next st, dc in the next st, dc in the sk st, 2 hdc in the last st, ch 1 and turn. (2 dc, 4 hdc)

Row 5 2 Hdc in the first st, *sk next st, dc in the next st, dc in the sk st*  2 times, 2 hdc in the last st, ch 1 and turn. (4 dc, 4 hdc)

Row 6 2 Hdc in the first st, *sk next st, dc in the next st, dc in the sk st* 3 times, 2 hdc in the last st, ch 1 and turn. (6 dc, 4 hdc)

Row 7 2 Hdc in the first st, *sk next st, dc in the next st, dc in the sk st* 4 times, 2 hdc in the last st, ch 1 and turn. (8 dc, 4 hdc)

Row 8 Hdc2tog, *sk next st, dc in the next st, dc in the sk st* 4 times, hdc2tog, ch 1 and turn. (6 dc, 4 hdc)

Row 9 Hdc2tog, *sk next st, dc in the next st, dc in the sk st* 3 times, hdc2tog, ch 1 and turn. (6 dc, 4 hdc)

Row 10 Hdc2tog, *sk next st, dc in the next st, dc in the sk st* 2 times, hdc2tog, ch 1 and turn. (6 dc, 4 hdc)

Row 11 Hdc2tog, sk next st, dc in the next st, dc in the sk st, hdc2tog, ch 1 and turn. (6 dc, 4 hdc)

Row 12 Sc2tog 2 times, ch 1 and turn. (2 sc)

Row 13 Sc2tog, ch 1, turn to the side (1 sc)

Row 14 Sc evenly around the square, fasten off and weave in the ends. (12 sc per side)
